We are genuinely distinct — bounded, embodied, autonomous, private — and genuinely connected through causation, ecology, history, and dependence. ORIA asserts both facts together.
Both facts at once
Most misuses of this idea consist in wielding one half against the other — dissolving the individual into the collective, or denying that anyone depends on anything. ORIA holds the conjunction: you are a distinct life and an interdependent one, and neither cancels the other.
What “inseparable” claims — and does not
The precise claim is that no being exists in complete causal and constitutive independence. It is not a claim of physical non-separability, psychological merger, or mystical identity. “We are all one” is not a fact about shared consciousness, and it is never a solvent for individual responsibility.
Connection is not a claim on you
Interconnection may never be used against consent, boundaries, privacy, self-determination, the right to leave, or the reality that people differ and sometimes conflict. Connection is an observation about what we are made of — never a claim on anyone’s body, time, resources, or agreement.
