The Eight Principles
Eight ways of holding a belief, and taking part, with care.
Eight principles describe the orientation One Way names — how to meet reality honestly and live within it responsibly. These are ORIA’s current developing principles; their names and wording are proposed and may be refined (oq-0001).
Numbering is presentation order, not rank; the principles form a cycle and may be entered anywhere. Each links to a fuller page.

We would rather hold an honest question than a comfortable false answer.
- 2 · Evidence Over Authority
No one owns the universe; claims earn trust through evidence, never through office.
- 3 · Wonder Without Superstition
Awe needs no invented mechanism; measurement has not exhausted meaning.
- 4 · Everything Transforms
Forms change rather than simply vanish; endings are transformations.
- 5 · Distinct Yet Inseparable
Genuinely individual and genuinely interdependent, both at once.
- 6 · Reverence for Life and Consciousness
Whatever can experience matters; human dignity is unconditional.
- 7 · Nature as Teacher
The living world is our oldest teacher, never a moral rulebook.
- 8 · Responsible Participation
Understanding completes itself in action, restraint, repair, and care.
The framework as a whole — One Way, these Eight Principles, and A Step Forward — remains developing; its exact wording is an open question (oq-0001). What it points to is not placeholder: it is the working orientation ORIA is being built to live.
