A project can be judged by what it refuses to pretend to know. ORIA keeps its unresolved matters visibly open: a question is closed only by a recorded decision, never by content that quietly assumes an answer. These are genuine uncertainties, not rhetorical ones.
What ORIA is
- Is ORIA finally a religion, a philosophy, a spiritual path, a movement, or a defined combination? The working description is “a developing religious and philosophical project,” but the permanent category is not decided.
- What are the final names and wording of One Way, the Eight Principles, and A Step Forward? The current formulations are developing and may be refined.
Reality, mind, and what continues
- What is the nature of consciousness? ORIA adopts no theory of mind.
- Can consciousness meaningfully continue after biological death? No position is affirmed or denied.
- What is a defensible ORIA interpretation of reincarnation — as question, belief, or metaphor?
- Can the universe meaningfully be described as conscious? Left open.
- How should belief, doubt, and confidence be expressed publicly — and by what standards of evidence?
Ethics and meaning
- What are the deepest foundations of ORIA’s ethics, and how far does dignity extend beyond human beings?
- How should suffering, repair, and the limits of restoration be understood?
- What vocabulary of sacredness, if any, is appropriate — and what is off-limits?
Practice, community, and difference
- Should ORIA ever have shared ritual forms, a calendar, or authorized practices? None exist, and whether any should is unresolved.
- What would participation, membership, and self-identification mean — and should they exist at all?
- Is ORIA compatible with continuing to belong to another religion? The multiple-belonging question is open.
- What minimum of participation across cultures would be required before any claim of multicultural legitimacy — a claim ORIA does not currently make?
Governance, founder, and future
- What governance and legal form, if any, should ORIA take? The draft Constitution is unadopted and nonoperational.
- How should the founder’s role be limited over time, and how should authority transition away from him?
- What safeguarding must exist before any participation involving children or vulnerable people?
- How is canon ever considered, and by whom — given that nothing is canonical and publication never makes it so?
Presentation
- Whether to adopt the developing visual identity, and in what final form (the direction is off-white, charcoal, typography-led, no symbol).
- The final shape of this website. Search indexing was enabled on 2026-07-12 by a recorded founder decision; the site remains developing work, and publication is not validation.
This is a curated public selection. Some questions are held back where they touch privacy, safety, or unfinished legal matters. The full working register is maintained inside the repository.
